Centros Miller, in association with London Borough of Islington, opened the N1 Centre in June 2002. The prestigious 150,000 sq ft (13,935 sqm) mixed-use development occupies a prime site opposite the Angel Underground ensuring that N1 quickly became a retail and leisure destination.

Within six months N1’s location and tenant line up including GAP, HMV, Next, Monsoon and FCUK was attracting a weekly footfall in excess of 200,000.

Six restaurant units and a nine screen 40,000 sq ft (3,716 sqm) cinema were also included in the scheme which was pre-funded by Delancey and took just two years to build.

A stone and glazed kiosk adorned by a pair of giant angle wings, in honour of the development's location form the centerpiece of N1 which was awarded the 2002 BCSC New Centre Award.
