Multi-Award winning Edinburgh Quay set the benchmark for canal side regeneration and development in the UK.

Edinburgh Quay Ltd, a Miller Developments partnership with British Waterways (BW), transformed the Edinburgh terminus of the Union Canal into a thriving cosmopolitan environment.

Instrumental in signifying a shift for the recognised prime office core south-westwards, phase one totaling circa 200,000sq ft (18,600m²)included 80,000 sq ft (7,432m²) of commercial office space; 7 restaurants, 70 apartments and public space.  Miller/BW secured some of the last liquor licenses for the area, making life easier for their tenants.

Following the completion and sale of Phase One, speculative development was undertaken on Phase Two comprising a further net lettable  55,000 sq ft (5,110 m²) of office space and 5,000 sq ft (464m²) of retail.  Phase two was successfully sold in January 2010 to Codea Savills’ Luxembourg fund.

Throughout the development of Edinburgh Quay, the company played an active role in the local community involving local school children in various competitions while reinstating the canal basin to its former glory for Edinburgh residents and visitors to enjoy.

Further phases are being contemplated to capitalize on the long-term joint venture with BW and ownership of the canal, its towpaths, and adjoining properties.
