Coimbra Retail Park, Portugal

Capitalising upon the highly successful joint venture established for Portugal's first retail park at Sintra, Miller Developments and Sonae Sierra opened the 138,000 sq ft (12,800m²) retail park at Coimbra, midway between Lisbon and Porto, in November 2003.

Anchored by a DIY operator, Mestro Maco, other retailers include San Luis, the Spanish electrical retailer, Multiopticas, Worten (electricals), Sports Zone (sports) and Vobis (IT products), in addition to two restaurants.

Coimbra is perfectly positioned. Situated at the hub of the A1, IP3 and IC2 motorways, connecting it to the whole of the Greater Coimbra area, the Park is within easy reach of the population centres of Mealhada, Penacova, Vila Nova de Poiares and Condeixa-a-Nova. With a drive time catchment of almost 175,000 people within 20 minutes, the retail park recorded sales of over €9.5 million in 2004.

Coimbra was sold in June 2005 to Scottish Widows Investment Partnership.
