Change of Use

Clyde Workshops, Cambuslang

Miller acquired the 13 acre former workshops of the British Steel Corporation at Cambuslang in 1997.

The site was purchased as an active strategic investment in the knowledge that although part of it would potentially be lost to the proposed M74 extension, the remaining land would be located on one of the prime junctions on the approach to Southern Glasgow.

The CPO for the proposed motorway extension took effect in November 2006, with the final settlement being reached in 2009.

Outline planning for the remaining 7.5 acres was submitted to Glasgow City Council for a mixture of uses including, hotel, small scale retail and fast food. Prior to a planning decision being made, the remainder of the site was sold in July 2009 to Airlink.
